Misstep Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026
The short version:
🏡 Your progress, settings, and created levels are stored only on your device — we run no accounts and no game servers.
📵 We do not collect names, emails, contacts, photos, or location. There is no chat or social feature.
🔗 Level sharing is a short text code passed between players — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Misstep ("the App", published as "Misstep: Puzzle Runner") is developed and published by Coral Cove Software LLC ("we", "us"), a Washington, USA company. This policy explains what information is and is not handled when you play Misstep, and applies to the App on both iOS and Android.
Information we do not collect
The App has no user accounts and no login. We do not collect, request, or store:
- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
- Contacts, photos, or files
- Precise location
- Microphone or camera data (the App requests neither permission)
- Messages of any kind — the App contains no chat or social features
Game progress stays on your device
Your level progress, discovery journal, badges, settings, and any levels you build in the Creator are saved locally on your device. Deleting the App deletes this data. We cannot see it, and we cannot restore it — it never leaves your device.
Sharing a created level produces a short text code that you send however you like (for example, in a message). The code describes the level layout and contains no personal information — level names are generated by the App itself from a fixed word list, so codes never carry player-written text.
Services the App uses
Like most mobile games, Misstep uses a small number of third-party services to show ads, deliver purchases, and fix crashes. These services may process limited technical data (such as device model, operating system version, IP address, and identifiers) as described in their own policies:
- Google AdMob (advertising) — serves optional rewarded ads and occasional between-level ads. On iOS, the App asks for App Tracking Transparency permission first; if you decline, ads are requested in non-personalized mode. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat (purchases) — processes purchase receipts so your purchases (like Remove Ads) are delivered and can be restored. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and store receipt data, never your payment details. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play (payments) — all payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment information.
- Sentry (crash reporting) — if the App crashes, technical details of the crash (device model, OS version, and the error itself) are reported so we can fix it. Reports contain no gameplay identity or personal information.
- Expo Application Services (app updates) — the App periodically checks for updated level packs and fixes, which involves standard web-request data such as IP address.
Children's privacy
Misstep is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — the App is built not to collect personal information from anyone. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child's personal information has somehow been collected, contact us at contact@coralcovesoftware.com and we will address it promptly.
Your choices
- Tracking: on iOS, decline the tracking prompt to receive non-personalized ads. You can change this anytime in your device Settings.
- Ads: rewarded ads only ever play when you choose to watch them. The one-time "Remove Ads" purchase removes between-level ads entirely.
- Data deletion: uninstalling the App deletes all locally stored game data. For data processed by the services above, their policies describe deletion practices; contact us and we will help direct any request.
- Purchases: can be restored through the store on a new device via the App's restore option.
Data retention
We retain nothing ourselves — we operate no servers that store player data. Third-party services listed above retain technical data according to their own published policies.
Changes to this policy
If the App's data practices change, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted in the App's store listing release notes.
